Margareth Apodaca

Early Head Start
  • Margareth ApodacaMy name is Margareth Apodaca, I am a native of Las Vegas.   I was born and raised in this community.   I am the parent of one child who was a Head Start participant. He has since graduated and is now a chef. My hobbies include crocheting, playing volleyball, basketball, softball and bowling. I enjoy being with my family for holidays and talking to my parents about the old days.

I received my education in Las Vegas.  I attended grade school at Mora Avenue School, which was a small neighborhood school.  I attended Memorial Middle School from sixth to eighth grade. Then I attended Robertson High School until graduating in 1976.  I continued my education at New Mexico Highlands University where I received my Bachelor of Arts degree in 1984, my course emphasis being History, Political Science, and Secondary Education. I also received an Associate of Arts degree in Early Childhood Education from Luna Community in 2002.

I have worked with the Head Start program for fourteen (14) years.  I have had various roles in the program.  I have worked in the classroom as a teacher assistant and as a teacher.  I have also worked in administration as a Screening & Assessing coordinator, an Education Coordinator, and a Literacy liaison with Carnagie Library and Tome on the Range bookstore. The role of liaison was to help promote reading at home, at school and around the community.  I also serve as an advocate for our families and children we serve in our community.
